It started with a DIY project

After years working in climate, our founders DR and Josh realized something big was being overlooked: the climate transition was leaving homes—and homeowners—behind.

Buildings account for a huge share of carbon emissions, yet upgrading to cleaner technology was still confusing and out of reach.

The "no-brainer" solution? Heat pumps. More efficient, lower emissions, dramatically better for comfort and air quality. So how hard could installing one be?

Turns out… very.

What started as a simple DIY project at DR's house became months of dead ends. Sizing, contractors, rebates, inspections, plumbing, electrical—there was no trustworthy, one-stop place to handle any of it. And if they couldn't figure it out with years of experience, how could the average homeowner?

That's when the lightbulb hit: it shouldn't be this hard. These upgrades can meaningfully cut emissions and improve lives—but the red tape was getting in the way.
