SAN FERNANDO VALLEY
Ditch gas with fully electric, efficient appliances.
One heat pump replaces your furnace and AC, keeps working through Valley heat waves. A battery-equipped induction range plugs into a regular 120v outlet so you can upgrade your kitchen without rewiring. Both can qualify for the new Aliso Canyon rebates launching late summer 2026.
Elephant Energy installs heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, and induction ranges for homeowners across Porter Ranch, Granada Hills, Northridge, Chatsworth, and Sylmar. We handle the TECH Clean California and utility rebate paperwork — LADWP or SCE, whichever serves your home — so you don't have to.

Solutions
Ditch the gas in your home. Breathe cleaner air.
From heat pumps and heat pump water heaters to induction ranges, we upgrade your home from start to finish.
Heat pumps & mini splits
A heat pump (aka a mini split) is a modern AC that also heats — it moves air instead of burning anything, so your home stays comfortable year-round and your indoor air stays clean even on Spare the Air days.
Heat pump water heaters
A heat pump water heater uses 2–3× less energy than a gas or electric tank heater. Pair it with your new heat pump and you could eliminate your gas bill entirely — with available LADWP and city rebates covering a big chunk of the cost.
Copper Induction Stoves
Copper makes Charlie, a full-size, battery-equipped induction range that plugs into a standard 120v outlet. It preheats and boils water 3–4x faster than gas and is backed by a two-year warranty for the range and a five-year warranty for the battery.

TECH CLEAN CALIFORNIA REBATES
Where this fund came from
In 2015, a SoCalGas well above Porter Ranch leaked for nearly four months, and thousands of Valley households were evacuated. Part of the settlement over that leak — $40 million — is now funding heat pumps for homes in the communities affected. It's real money, already set aside, that pays for getting your home off gas for good.

FAQ
How can we help?
We've answered thousands of questions. Here are the most common ones:
A heat pump does everything your AC does — plus heating. If your AC is dying and you also have a gas furnace, a heat pump replaces both in one system. Most LA homes with existing ductwork can swap their old AC for a heat pump with little to no duct modification. We assess your existing setup in the first consultation at no cost.
Yes. Heat pumps provide real, consistent air conditioning — the same technology as central AC, running in reverse for heat. They're sized for Valley summers (which regularly hit 100°F+) the same way any properly sized central air system would be.
Yes. This is one of the most common projects we do in older Northridge and Sylmar homes. A ductless mini-split system gives you both your first real air conditioning and efficient heating in one install.
TECH Clean California is funding heat pumps, water heaters, and panel upgrades for homes in Porter Ranch, Granada Hills, Northridge, Chatsworth, Sylmar, and neighboring ZIPs, starting late summer 2026. General-market households get a fixed rebate per system; income-qualified households (under 80% AMI) can have their full install covered. We handle enrollment and paperwork either way.
It depends on household income relative to your area median income (under 80% AMI generally qualifies). We'll check your eligibility on your free call — and if you don't qualify for this fund's income-qualified tier, the general-market rebate still applies.
The initial program covers Porter Ranch, Granada Hills, Northridge, Chatsworth, and Sylmar (91311, 91324, 91325, 91326, 91343, 91344), with more ZIPs expected to follow. Tell us your address on your free call and we'll confirm.
Not for most of the year. A heat pump is more efficient than a gas furnace and an aging AC running separately — for most Valley households, replacing both with one right-sized system lowers total energy costs, not just moves them from one bill to another.
Yes — and this is one of the top reasons LA homeowners in Pasadena, Glendale, and Burbank are upgrading now. After the January 2025 fires, we saw a significant increase in inquiries from homeowners who realized their gas furnace was adding combustion byproducts to already-compromised air. A heat pump has zero indoor combustion. Paired with a MERV-13 or higher filter and well-sealed ductwork, it can meaningfully reduce your exposure to outdoor smoke particles during fire events.
During a power outage, a fully charged battery can power the range for 3-5 meals.
The battery is a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which typically lasts for 10-15 years before you experience significant degradation.
Yes. The cooktop only heats up if a compatible pot or pan is on top of the corresponding cooking zone. If no pan is present, no power will be sent to the cooking zone until a compatible pan is found.
The best way to ensure that your cooktop is safe after usage is to turn off the cooking zone and remove pots and pans from the range as soon as you’re done. This also expedites the process of the cooktop cooling down. Do not rely on the pan detector to turn off the cooking zone.
The Charlie range will also turn off automatically if it has been left on for an extended period of time with a pan present. If the cooking zone is set between 0-25% power, it will turn off after 24 hours to allow for slow cooking. At higher power settings, cooking zones will turn off sooner.
